Hanoi [Vietnam], May 16: Efforts to promote cooperation in sustainable agricultural development and green transformation in agricultural and food production are the focus of the business trip to Vietnam of Danish Minister of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries Jacob Jensen.
The goal of the visit focuses on promoting high-level policy dialogue with Vietnamese partners on sustainable food production and the development of efficient, resource-saving supply chains.
During this working visit, Minister Jensen signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Vietnam's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan to extend the cooperation program between the two governments.
Combating antibiotic resistance in agriculture
Antibiotic resistance is currently a major threat to public health and human health. Therefore, this is an important content of the bilateral Strategic Sector Cooperation Program for Food (SSC Food), jointly run by the Danish Veterinary and Food Authority (DVFA) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Vietnam (MARD) cooperates in implementation.
Phase 1 focuses on improving the basic conditions for developing the animal feed industry through enhancing the capacity of state officials and improving the legal framework on the consistent use of veterinary drugs. cautiously.
In phase 2 (ending in April 2024), the program focuses on key areas such as improving the capacity of local officials in all steps of the food chain from farm to table, combating antibiotic resistance ( AMR), animal feed control, traceability and recall of unsafe food.
At the same time, he also gave an important speech at the conference on Antibiotic Resistance (AMR) in agriculture and aquaculture.
In the following years, the program will increase its focus on promoting the green transition in agricultural and food production, aiming to build a more sustainable and resilient food system. more outside.
Minister Jensen also led a delegation of businesses in the Danish agriculture and food sector. These are companies and manufacturers with world-leading solutions in food production and processing, storage, optimization of agricultural and food resource use, water and drainage engineering .
Vietnam is an attractive destination for Danish companies in the agricultural sector. Currently, Denmark is one of the EU countries with the highest per capita export level to Vietnam. In particular, the agricultural food sector accounts for about half of Denmark's total export turnover to Vietnam.
Minister Jensen said "Vietnam is becoming an important and attractive market for Danish businesses and investors. Although Vietnam and Denmark are very far apart geographically, we are both face the same challenges. We need to continue working together to use resources efficiently and intelligently to enhance competitiveness and sustainability."
During his visit to the south, Minister Jensen visited Food Bank Vietnam, an important partner in the field of reducing food loss and waste. The Minister also visited a pangasius farm in Tien Giang and an aquatic animal feed factory in Ben Tre. This is where Vietnamese and Danish research institutes and companies are collaborating to increase the use of technology and green solutions towards sustainable aquaculture production in Vietnam.
On May 16, on the last day of the visit, the Minister gave an important speech at the conference "Sustainable agriculture and food production: Danish advanced technology and financial opportunities".
This conference serves as a forum to connect and facilitate the exchange of experiences, technology, finance and business opportunities between authorities, local policymakers, leaders and industry managers and Danish and Vietnamese entrepreneurs.
