Paris Olympics has invited controversy after the Italy vs Algeria boxing match ended within 46 seconds on August 01. Italian boxer Angela quit her 66 kg women’s category boxing match against Algeria’s Khelif sparking a gender row at Paris Olympics. Imane Khelif who’s a biological male was banned from competing in world championships following failures in testosterone, gender eligibility tests. The incident sparked a widespread row with the Italian PM calling the bout “unfair”. Meanwhile, Khelif’s father expressed dismay and further called the controversy immoral and unfair. Her father presented an official document from 1999, that showed that Imane Khelif is a ‘woman’. Notably, post Backlash, IOC responded to the controversy stating ‘Every person has right to practise sport’
